October: Independence Youth Cycling

This month we have an awesome feature!

If you love mountain biking and live in the Philly area, we have the Non-Profit for you!

Independence Youth Cycling is a youth cycling group that is a part of NICA

NICA stands for The National Interscholastic Cycling Association.

NICA is a non-profit that promotes youth mountain biking programs all over The United States.

IYC offers bike lessons, trail clean up/ preservation, race opportunities, camping trips, and more!

They’re always looking for volunteers to help with their programs. Whether you're a parent of a child enrolled in the program, an avid cyclist looking to share your knowledge, or a beginner who wants to learn more about mountain biking, there's a volunteer opportunity for you.

Check out their website here!

Keep up with them on social media and their blog

I’ve been personally involved with Independence Youth Cycling and had the ability to be a coach with them if only for a short time. They are a truly inspiring organization that is making a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community. By providing opportunities for kids to learn on-the-bike skills, explore the outdoors, and develop valuable life skills, IYC is helping to create a brighter future for future generations.

One phrase I’ve said myself and have heard often from others who learn about IYC is “I wish I had this when I was a kid“.
