The Pepper Page

Well hello! You’ve found the Pepper Page

Welcome welcome,

This page is dedicated to this cute little sassy birb. I’ll be going over her back story and how she's help me through a lot over the years.

Pepper is a 30+ year old Congo African Grey parrot. I adopted her in 2017 from a friend. Previously named Peter, about a year after I adopted her she laid an egg. There’s not much to distinguish male or female other than maybe size.

Now she’s not a very cuddly bird but she will accept pets when she feels like it. She mostly likes music, singing, whistling and dancing. She loves walks and car rides.

Pepper loves to travel and make friends. Her best friend is Bandit. He is a Anatolian Shepard/ Great Pyrenees mix. Bandit and Pepper’s friendship was part of the inspiration to write a book.

Check out her instagram here!

How Pepper inspired me to write a book

In late 2022, I had a college class about storytelling in marketing. I was required to write a short story that included the 12 steps of the Hero’s Journey.

As I was thinking of a theme, characters, and story plot, I remembered the time when Peter laid an egg and I thought…well you know what, why not start with that!

It was a super fun project and I had a ton of fun writing it. Sometimes when you start, you just can’t stop. The character inspiration came from friends/families animals like Bandit and Chaos. The seagulls came from actual gulls we see each year when travel to Atlantic City. Jordan and I have watched the seagulls (on top of Bally’s parking garage) lay eggs, hatch, and grow up within the last two years of us traveling there for work. The other characters are all based around the Philly area and are native to Pennypack Park. I’m super excited to release the book!

If you’d like to support the project, I started a Patreon where I will be sharing parts of the story, sketches of the characters and in the future create a comic out of it. I have plans to release more because I work with animals and I have lots of characters ideas.
